MRFRS is very fortunate to have such an amazing group of people that are willing to foster our kitties and help to socialize them while they prepare to move on to their forever homes. Fostering can be a lot of work but, at the same time, it can be very, very rewarding.
It is only because of our foster community that we were able to empty the shelter in order to keep everyone safe once the coronavirus invaded our lives. Besides caring for, and socializing these kitties, foster parents also meet with prospective adopters virtually in order to introduce the kitties. We absolutely could not do what we do without them!
Q: How long have you been volunteering with MRFRS?
A: 8 years
Q: Have you done only fostering or what other positions have you worked in?
A: Only fostering.
Q: How did you get involved with fostering?
A: My 2 young kids and I went to PetSmart in Danvers to buy dog food. At the time, MRFRS had an adoption center there. Since it had been several months since we lost our cat, Mouse, to cancer, we stopped to look and fell in love with a sibling pair. We adopted them, learned more about the organization, and became fosters 2 years later.
Q: What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
A: Singing
Q: How many animals do you have and what are they?
A: Five cats all from MRFRS! Four are “mine” (Chito, Mocha, Belle, Prim) and my son recently adopted Sage.
Q: Is there anything else that you would like to say about yourself or your involvement with MRFRS?
A: It is an honor to work with such a caring, competent staff to help ALL kitties in need find their forever, loving homes. What a blessing it has been.
