MRFRS Mentoring Program

The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society’s Mentoring Program for Free-Roaming Cats is Recruiting!

The MRFRS mentoring program, started in 2012, is recruiting new groups across the United States and Canada for its mentoring program for free-roaming cats. This program works with non-profits and municipalities that have never previously received a targeted or free-roaming grant from PetSmart Charities before and are interested in applying for spay/neuter money through the free-roaming cat program. This program is sponsored by PetSmart Charities.

How it works:

Each non-profit approved to participate is granted a small ($5-8k) amount for a targeted project in its community. We also have money available for equipment, like traps, as well.  Over the course of 3-4 months, each group completes a targeted free-roaming cat spay/neuter project and then, once the project is done, we walk you through the process of submitting the PetSmart Charities application, with the goal of successful funding for a larger-scale project.

This opportunity could mean thousands of dollars for your organization and could help hundreds of kitties in your community. This program is available to groups with revenues above $60,000 a year located anywhere in the U.S. or Canada). We have already worked with both small grassroots groups and very large groups.

Thus far, through this program, we have mentored over 30 organizations, spay/neutered 5700 cats, and succeeded in helping groups to offer spay/neuter through thousands of dollars in grants from PetSmart Charities.

Please email Stacy LeBaron at stacy@mrfrs.org or call directly at 978-239-2090 if you are interested in receiving the preliminary questionnaire. Preliminary questionnaires for our next round of projects will be accepted at the discretion of the director. On behalf of all that you do for the cats, thank you!

The MRFRS is a nationally recognized, nonprofit volunteer-driven organization committed to ensuring the health and welfare of feral and domestic cats and kittens by promoting proactive, compassionate, no-kill programs. For more information, please call 978-462-0760 or visit www.mrfrs.org.
