Veterinary Surgical Prep Technician

Full time. Four 10-hour days. $25/hour.

Veterinary Surgical Prep Technician needed for our Catmobile – a high-quality, high-volume, low-cost mobile feline spay/neuter clinic. The Catmobile is based out of Holliston, with daily worksites throughout Eastern Massachusetts. Vet Tech assists with morning drug and surgical prep, cat intakes with public, inductions, surgeries, recoveries, surgical suite clean-up, paper work, re-stocking supplies, discharge of cats to public, laundry and surgical instrument clean/prep. Working in a mobile vet clinic is a unique experience and requires the ability to work for long periods as a two-person team. Being a mobile unit, public interactions usually occur outside the unit and will at times require working in cold, hot temps, as well as in rain.

Qualifications and Skills:

Certified Veterinary Technician or 2 years veterinary technician experience or 5 years animal shelter experience. Cat handling experience is required. Some training can/will be provided as needed.

Must have a positive attitude, outstanding customer service skills, and a desire to work closely with the general public. Candidates must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be comfortable multi-tasking with numerous preps, inductions, and recoveries happening simultaneously.

Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and be willing to drive the mobile unit. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis, and up to 65 lbs occasionally. Must be able to bend down to get into lower cages, stand for long periods of time, and work in close quarters.
